Pearly Beach / Bantamsklip Nuclear Power Station application by Eskom

Many of you are interested and affected parties to Eskom’s two proposals, I wish to share the following with you.

Stanford Birding is a registered I&AP
Tourism is the greatest contributor SA’s GDP
Birding is the fastest growing form of International Tourism
SA Tourism against Eskom/Govt nuclear proposal 4 Pearly Beach
It seems apparent, the applicant in the case of the Nuclear Power Station, is Eskom backed by the current govt.
Therefore, by association, the applicant in the case of the transmission lines is also Eskom backed by the current govt. The irony, in this case, is that it is the current govt., albeit a different department, i.e., is the one who has final approval. [Makes me feel like a prawn in a game of Chinese Checkers! ]
Everyone working at the PPP (Public Participation Process) is on the payroll for either Eskom or the Govt.

Philippa Elaine Castle Throughly enjoyed her long walk with Lisa Lopion, 6 Whippets and a Jack Russel, along the Pearly Beach coastline to the proposed Nuclear Power Development site!

Nuclear Power Station news from Platbos Forest Newsletter
ESKOM is forging ahead with its plan to build a Nuclear Power Station on one of three locations in the country. Bantamsklip near Pearly Beach is one of the sites. This unspoilt area is regarded as the world´s "hottest of hot spots" in terms of its biodiversity and number of endemic species. Environmental Impact Assessments are currently underway for the transmission lines: 80 metres high, four pylons abreast, they are to occupy large corridors of the Overberg landscape. One of the proposed routes cuts directly over the canopy of Platbos Forest! I appeal to communities in the Overberg area to contact ESKOM and find out whether or not they will be affected by the development and to duly register as an Interested and Affected Party. There are still many landowners who remain uninformed about this looming threat.
You can register through NMA Effective Social Strategists: 011 447 9737 / email: theoh@nma.org.za. Shortly, we will post a link on our Global Warming Page which will provide updates, meetings, and environmental data around the proposed Bantamsklip Nuclear Power Station and its Transmission lines.

The Early Bird Catches the Pentax...

Dear Amanzi1

STANFORD STRETTON’S BIRD FAIR 2010  1-3 OCTOBER

The tradition of the Stanford Bird Fair continues due to the generous sponsorship that makes this event possible. Edward Snell & Co are sponsoring all birding activities under the banner of their Strettons London Dry Gin brand.

BirdLife Walkerbay, assisted by Stanfordinfo, are hosting the event this year. We are putting together a fair that, apart from birds, will cover a variety of activities attracting a cross-section of people, young and old, to Stanford for what will prove to be a memorable weekend.

We are once again lucky to have access to an impressive array of birding experts who will be delivering talks, leading guided field outings and hopefully will be identifying local birding hotspots in the Overberg for those who wish to do their own thing. We are optimistic that these activities will allow our guests to acquaint themselves with the elusive Rock Jumper, the highly-endangered Bank Cormorant and a variety of other birds endemic to the Overberg. In addition, there will be talks on Overberg amphibians and bats as well as an outing to spot the Blue Crane.  In addition, the organisers will pay special attention to arranging activities for non-birders and children. These will include items such as talks on Overberg amphibians, as well as South African bats, the ever-popular Eagle Encounters (raptors in flight), snakes and a variety of films.  There will be continual birding river trips for the duration of the weekend as well as a mini-pelagic boat trip from Kleinbaai.  Keep an eye on the program for up to date details of all events and outings.

The Stanford Birding Photographic Competition is becoming an ever popular part of the Stanford Bird Fair and this year we are pleased to inform you the

2010 STANFORD BIRDING Photographic Competition has begun!

The 2010 STANFORD BIRDING Photographic Competition is now open for submissions! Last year, the winner of the competition was Basie van Zyl with his Little Egret Feeding.  He won a Flight of the Giants with African Wings, to photograph both whales and birds!

So, you may be pondering why enter this competition - well you have the opportunity to bathe in much admiration and fame…  Basie made the front page of the Hermanus Times, but what else?  Prizes of course...  all of which are certainly worth aiming for!  What are the prizes you may well ask?

MANIFESTING & LAW OF ATTRACTION

The Universe is all around you and within you and WANTS to bring the wellness to you, it's about letting go of the thoughts that don't let it in. Sometimes that can be by thinking good thoughts or relaxing, but certainly taking attention off that which is not letting it in, eg worry, fear, whatever it may be. That's why good thoughts actually serve as a distraction away from that, regardless of them being good in and of themselves alsomanifestingandloa, MANIFESTING & LAW OF ATTRACTION, Mar 2009
