Dear Mr Aucamp
It is with great pleasure that I received your email address in the latest issue of "Biophile" as I'd been wanting it since I wrote this verse on hearing about the proposed dam last year, as an addition to my Southern African River Song (the tune is "Michael rowed the boat ashore"). The song is attached below:
The Oliphants River camps in Kruger Park,
Alleluia
Please don't dam her or she'll die in the dark!
Alleluia
So Thabo Mbeki has her fate in his hands,
Alleluia
What's water's price when death's measured in Rands?
Alleluia
So dam and be damned in this vicious cycle
Alleluia
Or love SA's Eden like the park in the Bible…
Alleluia
My dear Martinus, van Scalkwyk, Sir,
Alleluia
It's your cock on the block so you'd better beware!
Alleluia
We, the South African's who cry for our beloved country, implore you to look reason in the face then make your mark in SA history by leading the world in water conservation and sustainability. What are we without clean air, clean water and clean food? D.O.A. that's what!
Yours sincerely
p.s. Is there anybody out there who really can actually really help?
